Five athletes are slated to be inducted into the Badin High School Athletic Hall of Fame in late April, according to Dean Wright, chair of the school’s HOF committee.
“These are always difficult, but rewarding, decisions to honor some of the past outstanding athletes who have represented Badin and our predecessor schools, Hamilton Catholic and Notre Dame high schools,” Wright said. “There are so many excellent athletes to choose from. The legacy of sports at our schools is very strong, and these athletes are a big part of that legacy.”
The Athletic Hall of Fame induction is scheduled for Saturday, April 29, at Badin’s Pfirman Family Activity Center. The schedule includes Mass at 5:15 p.m., refreshments at 6, dinner at 7 and the induction program at 7:45 p.m.
Those who will be inducted include Jim Rose, from the Badin class of 1968, Randy Becker ’74, Jesse Weisbrod ’93, Nick Yordy ’97 and Matt Broermann ’99.
In addition, the family of Mr. and Mrs. Max Kiep will be honored as the Legacy Family for all they have contributed to athletics at Badin. Max Kiep is a 1960 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High, and his wife, the former Carol Baumann, is a 1960 graduate of Notre Dame High.
And in the wake of the passing of Hall of Fame football coach Terry Malone ’52 this past week, the HOF evening will include a special tribute to him. Malone was the winningest coach in the state of Ohio when he retired following the 2003 season, winning 360 games in 46 years and the 1990 Ohio Division III state football championship.
“We look forward to the Hall of Fame night every year,” Wright said. “It’s always a pleasure to honor athletes who deserve this special recognition.”
Reservations for the Hall of Fame night are $35 and may be obtained by contacting Sharon Adams at Badin High, (513) 863-3993, ext. 113; or at Sadams@BadinHS.org. Children 12-and-under are admitted for $20.
