Badin preps for Open House scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 6

Prospective ninth graders – members of the Class of 2021 – and their parents are invited to Badin High School’s annual Open House on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 1-to-4 p.m. at the school, 571 New London Road in Hamilton.

“This is our showcase event to let potential students and families see what Badin is all about,’’ said BHS Principal Brian Pendergest. “We feel like when people take the opportunity to get a personal look at Badin, they will definitely go away thinking that this would be a great place for their high school experience.”

It’s a true “Open House,” so visitors can come anytime between 1 and 4 p.m. that afternoon for tours, presentations, activities and refreshments. Tours, led by student Ambassadors, will start from the Pfirman Family Activity Center behind the high school.

“This is a day to ask questions, get answers and see Badin up close and personal,” Pendergest said. “And while it’s typically a day for 7th and 8th graders and their families, we encourage anyone interested in a Badin career to attend.”

All faculty will be on hand to discuss the various departments. Badin has added numerous curriculum enhancements in recent years, particularly in the area of technology and engineering as well as the fine arts. Guests will be able to find out about religious education and retreat programs, as well as athletic and extracurricular opportunities.

Badin’s current freshman class has 164 students from 33 different schools, the largest incoming class in a dozen years. “But they all come together to create the Badin Family,” Pendergest said. “We pride ourselves on a close-knit student community. The students refer to it as the Ramily, because of the fact that we are the Rams. It underlines the fact that this is a special place to go to school.”

Potential students will also have the opportunity Sunday to sign up for the High School Placement Test, which will be given at Badin on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 8:30 a.m. Cost of the test is $30, but students can send the scores to up to three schools in the Cincinnati Archdiocese. The same test, for the same fee, will be given at Catholic high schools throughout the Archdiocese on that date.

Sign-up for the Placement Test may also be done through the Badin website here, or by contacting administrative assistant Nancy Gersbach at Badin, (513) 863-3993, ext. 111.
