Music program offering one-hour classes after school

The Badin High Music Program has expanded its offerings this year, with after-school classes every day to enhance the in-class efforts.

“These are great opportunities for students who want to be involved in music, but do not have a music class scheduled,” said Matt McCormick, who teaches music at Badin in tandem with his wife, Elaina McCormick. “The classes are also beneficial for students who are already enrolled in classes and want to learn a new instrument, or expand their abilities.”

The one-hour after school classes include Vocal Ensemble (Monday), String Ensemble (Tuesday), Guitar Music Reading Class (Wednesday), Badin Rocks (Thursday – this is Badin’s main band) and Jazz Band (Friday).

“We’ve had great interest in what we do and have been able to expand our music program,” McCormick said. “These after-school classes will give our students more opportunity to enhance their skills and broaden their interests.”

Badin will be hosting Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. The Music Department will have a 30-minute “Meet and Greet” for parents in its classroom in the Pfirman Family Activity Center at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
