Six athletes set for induction into Badin Athletic Hall of Fame

Six athletes are slated to be inducted into the Badin High School Athletic Hall of Fame in mid-May, according to Dean Wright, chair of the school’s HOF committee.

“It’s another outstanding class, and we look forward to another outstanding night,” Wright said. “It’s an honor to be involved in the process and to be able to recognize these men and women who have made such a significant impact on the fields of play and in the legacy of our high schools.”

The Athletic Hall of Fame induction is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, in Badin’s Pfirman Family Activity Center. The schedule includes Mass at 5:15 p.m., refreshments at 6, dinner at 7 and the induction program at 7:45 p.m.

The Hall of Fame also recognizes student-athletes who attended Hamilton Catholic (all boys) and Notre Dame (all girls), Badin’s predecessor schools that merged for the opening of BHS in the fall of 1966.

Those who will be inducted in 2018 include the late Celeste Broermann, from the Notre Dame High Class of 1966; Pete Scheidler ’88, Brian Giesting ’93, Ben Helmers ’98, Katie Rains Sullivan ’03, and former Badin girls head basketball coach Dan Purcell.

In addition, the family of Mr. and Mrs. Terry McGuff will be honored as the Legacy Family for all they have contributed to athletics at Badin. Terry McGuff is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame, inducted in 2007. His wife, the former Ann Slovisky, is a 1957 graduate of Notre Dame High.

“This is such a special night,” Wright said. “The athletes are always so appreciative, and those in attendance enjoy their stories and the opportunity to be a part of this enjoyable event.”

Reservations for the Hall of Fame night are $35 and may be obtained by contacting Sharon Adams at Badin High, (513) 863-3993, ext. 113; or at Children 12-and-under are admitted for $20.
