Badin announces partnership with Mercy Health Cincinnati

Badin High School is pleased to announce its sports medicine partnership with Mercy Health Cincinnati.

“This is a very important partnership and Mercy Health will provide an excellent affiliation for our student-athletes,” said Badin Principal Brian Pendergest. “In providing our students with a wide array of innovative health and wellness services, Mercy Health is going the distance to make a difference for our athletic efforts.”

Thomas Urban, president and CEO of Mercy Health North, pointed out that “in addition to health services, (Mercy Health) will provide educational opportunities for athletes, parents and staff… (along with) wellness opportunities through the Mercy Health-Fairfield HealthPlex.”

Mercy Health will provide a certified athletic trainer to serve as the school’s primary athletic trainer and a Mercy Health physician and sports medicine specialist will serve as the school’s team physician. The athletic trainer will work under the advice and counsel of the team physician.

The athletic trainer will work to promote and ensure the safety of Badin’s student-athletes, with injury prevention services as well as ongoing work to assist with the athletic training program and continuing education needs.

The physician will provide direct orthopedic care for athletic injuries and assist with injury prevention training for student-athletes. The partnership gives Badin High School athletes preferred access to treatment, diagnostic equipment such as x-rays or CT scans, and physical therapy options.

“Mercy Health put together an outstanding program for Badin,” Pendergest said, “and as a Catholic high school, it made sense to affiliate with the area’s Catholic health care system. We look forward to a long and effective connection with Mercy Health.”

Mercy Health offers athletic trainer coverage for more than 30 local high schools and colleges, multiple club sports, as well as coverage for the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami University and the Cincinnati Ballet.

According to a release from Mercy Health, “its high school partners benefit from the most robust school partnership in the region.”
