Theatre Badin to present the classic “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”

Badin High School will present the classic musical, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” Nov. 15-18 in the Little Theatre at the school, 571 New London Road in Hamilton.

“The magic of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts characters is timeless,” said Sarah Cline, director of drama at BHS. “Charlie Brown is fun for the kids, and presents a nice message for all of us who are still kids at heart.”

Senior Sydney Long will play Charlie Brown, with junior Emma Wesner as Lucy and freshman Kaiden Thomas as Snoopy.

“This is such a fun show to do,” Cline said. “The rehearsals, the backstage work, the camaraderie that develops among the cast – it really comes together to produce a show that you could just perform over and over again.”

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” offers an average day in the life of the beloved lead character, with fun moments plucked from Valentine’s Day to the baseball season. There are the typical highs and lows of a child’s life, starting with a bright but uncertain morning and concluding, after a series of entertaining vignettes, with a hopeful starlit evening.

“This show opened in 1967,” Cline pointed out, “and, more than 50 years later, it still represents great entertainment with something to say to any audience.”

The cast includes senior Hannah Nugent as Sally, sophomore Cody Wilmer as Schroeder, junior Max Hall as Linus, and sophomore Hannah Riecke as Woodstock.

Other cast members include senior Grace Tincher as Peppermint Patty, freshman Gracie Combs as Violet, sophomore Will Brossart as Pig Pen, and junior Sarah Totten as the Little Redheaded Girl.

Also among the ensemble are seniors Chelsea Andorn and Emily Burley, sophomores Jenny Blackburn and Rachael Cadman, freshmen Nicholas Blauvelt, Alyssa Roach and Rebekah Snyder, and elementary school students Louella Cline, Sam Collins, Eva Groh, Andrew Keck and Maguire Smith.

Curtain rises on “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday nights, Nov. 15-16-17, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18.

Tickets are on sale now in the front office at Badin. Adults are $10 and children or non-Badin students are $5. Badin students are admitted free because of the school’s Student Activity fee.
