Badin High students earn ‘named’ scholarships


Numerous students were honored with prestigious “named” scholarships during a ceremony in St. Basil’s Chapel at Badin High School on Tuesday evening, May 26.

“We truly appreciate the support we receive from so many who have created scholarship opportunities for our students,” Badin Principal Brian Pendergest said. “They have translated their love of Badin into financial benefit for our students, and their commitment has a significant impact year-in and year-out.”

Four scholarships went to graduating Badin students who will be freshmen in college:
Nathan Schuster (Miami University) earned the Mike Cappa Memorial Scholarship as well as the Katherine Schindler Memorial Scholarship.
Cameron Lapthorn (Miami University) earned the Patrick Connelly Leadership Scholarship.
Ella Pohlen (Miami University) earned the Ann Beer Memorial Scholarship.

Underclass awards included:
Colin Conner ‘21, who received the Joe DeAngelo Memorial Scholarship
Isabelle Helton ‘21, who received the Celeste Broermann Memorial Scholarship
Tommy Hogan ‘21, who received the Carol Michael Williams Art Scholarship
Max Kramer ’22, who received the Jeff Boyle Group at Keller Williams Associates Partners Scholarship
Mallory Smith ‘22, who received the Paul and Ann Seal Scholarship.

Pate scholarship winners

Three rising seniors received the Daniel Francis Pate Memorial Scholarship – A.J. Goldberg, Logan Hage and Kennedy Jarvis.

Four rising seniors received the Terry and Betty Malone Scholarship – Kailynn Berger, Jayden Carter, Jayla Starks and Connor Young.

Incoming freshman members of the Class of 2024 also earned named scholarships:
Amber Buss (St. Ann) received the Tim Hare Memorial Scholarship
Gracie Lees (Sacred Heart) received the Jack Loeffler Memorial Scholarship
Jacob Pickles (Lakota Plains) received the Becker-Reed Family Scholarship

Four students from Queen of Peace School received the Bob and Nelda Ernst Scholarship – Lindsay Garcia, Abby Rengering, Drew Vocke and Nick Warner.

Two students from Mother Teresa Catholic Elementary School also received the Bob and Nelda Ernst Scholarship – Jackie Kline and Shelby Mulcare.
